  • The IE4100 series is a new generation of industrial switches developed in strict compliance with industrial specifications. Built on a hardware platform with industrial-grade components, the whole series features obviously higher component reliability than commercial devices under the same operating conditions.

  • It supports vibration and dust resistance, complying with IP40 protection rating.

Rich Software Features


  • IE4100 series industrial switches integrate a wealth of Ethernet communication protocols, including switching, routing, ring network protection and security functions.

  • It provides a comprehensive set of Layer 2 Ethernet features, supporting 802.1Q VLAN, protocol-based VLAN, Voice VLAN and Guest VLAN. It also supports QinQ, flexible QinQ and multicast VLAN, as well as STP/RSTP/MSTP and 802.3x flow control protocols. QoS congestion management classifies data and assigns priorities to guarantee the transmission of critical service data. It supports Layer 2 functions such as LLDP, LACP, DLDP, GARP VLAN registration protocol and broadcast storm suppression, as well as Layer 2 multicast.

  • The IE4100 series delivers complete Layer 3 Ethernet capabilities. It supports IPv4/IPv6 static routing, routed interfaces, RIP and OSPF (entry-level models), and dual IPv4/IPv6 protocol stacks. It is compatible with IGMP Snooping and DHCP, including DHCP Client, DHCP Server, DHCP Snooping and DHCP Relay Option 82, as well as DNS domain name resolution.

  • The IE4100 series supports RRPP ring network technology. RRPP is a dedicated link layer protocol for Ethernet rings. It prevents broadcast storms caused by data loops when the ring network is intact. If a link on the ring fails, backup links can be quickly activated to ensure maximum network connectivity.

    Compared with STP, RRPP offers outstanding advantages: fast topology convergence (less than 50 ms); convergence speed independent of the number of ring nodes; no topology oscillation of other rings when one intersecting ring changes, ensuring more stable data transmission; and RRPP ring load balancing to fully utilize physical link bandwidth.

  • The IE4100 series is equipped with comprehensive Ethernet security features. Multi-level security protection mechanisms effectively curb virus propagation and network traffic attacks. It supports Layer 2–4 ACL control, ARP attack defense and DoS attack defense. IEEE 802.1x realizes port-based dynamic security and user authentication. TACACS+ and RADIUS authentication enable centralized switch management and prevent unauthorized configuration modification. It supports rapid deployment of Endpoint Admission Control (EAD) and SAVI for source address validation in IPv6 environments.

Comprehensive Security Control Policies


  • H3C IE4100 industrial switches support AAA and RADIUS authentication, as well as dynamic and static binding of user accounts, IP addresses, MAC addresses, VLANs and ports. Cooperating with H3C iMC platform, it enables real-time management of online users to timely detect and block illegal network behaviors.

  • It adopts enhanced ACL control logic, supports 16 kbps ACL traffic rate limiting and VLAN-based ACL distribution, which simplifies configuration and avoids waste of ACL resources.

Excellent Manageability


  • H3C IE4100 series industrial switches are equipped with an Ethernet management interface, supporting SNMPv1/v2c/v3 and compatible with the iMC intelligent management system. It provides multiple configuration modes including CLI, Web management, Telnet and FTP. Encrypted protocols such as SSH 2.0 and SSL ensure secure device management.

IRF2 (Intelligent Resilient Framework 2)


  • The IE4320 series supports IRF2 (Intelligent Resilient Framework 2) technology. Multiple physical devices can be interconnected and virtualized into one logical device, allowing users to manage and operate all devices as a single unit. IRF brings the following benefits:

  • Simplified Management

    After the IRF framework is established, users can log in to the unified logical device through any port of any member device. Configuring a single device can manage the entire IRF system and all internal members, without separate configuration and maintenance for each physical device.

  • Flexible Scalability

    Capacity can be flexibly expanded on demand to protect customer investment. Hot plugging is supported for adding or removing devices from the IRF system, without affecting the operation of other devices.

  • High Reliability

    IRF ensures high reliability in links, devices and protocols. Physical ports between member devices and uplink/downlink connections support link aggregation, realizing multi-link backup. The IRF system consists of multiple devices; once the Master device fails, a new Master will be automatically elected rapidly to achieve 1:N device-level backup and non-stop services. Real-time protocol hot backup synchronizes configuration data to all member devices to realize 1:N protocol-level reliability.

Green & Energy Saving


  • The IE4100 series adopts multiple green energy-saving designs, including automatic port power saving. If an interface keeps down for a certain period, the system will cut off its power supply and enter energy-saving mode. It also supports EEE energy-saving technology: idle ports will switch to low-power mode and be woken up by regular monitoring packets when data transmission is required, so as to reduce power consumption. All products comply with the EU RoHS standards for environmental protection and material safety.
